چکیده
Okusa, Mark D. A2A adenosine receptor: a novel therapeutic target in renal disease. Am J Physiol Renal Physiol 282: F10–F18, 2002.— Present strategies in the treatment of inflammatory renal injury have focused on developing agents that specifically target individual mechanisms thought to contribute toward the pathogenesis of the disease. Such an approach is hindered by redundancies in the inflammatory cascade, rendering intervention suboptimal. The A2A adenosine receptor (A2A-AR) is a member of the family of guanine nucleotide binding proteins and has become a focus of major interest primarily because of its ability to broadly inactivate the inflammatory cascade. This review summarizes our present knowledge regarding the molecular biology and pharmacology of A2A-ARs as well as the physiological effects of activation of A2A-ARs in the kidney. We also review our recent experience in targeting this receptor subtype in abrogating the inflammatory cascade in ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Introduction: The 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, ecstasy) is a popular recreational drug and a major source of substance abuse, which ultimately leads to sensations of well-being, elation and euphoria, moderate derealization/depersonalization, and cognitive disruptions, as well as intense sensory awareness. The mechanisms involved in memory impairment induced by MDMA are not completel...

Introduction:Adenosine as a potent vasodilator has physiological role in regulation of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF). Metod: Laser-Dِoppler flowmetry technique was used to study pial vessels blood flow responses to adenosine receptors agonists and antagonist. Male Sprague Dawley rats (250-350g) that were housed in standard conditions, were anesthetized with Urethane (1.5g/kg). Adenosine ...

Objective(s): For determining the mechanism of anti-asthmatic effect of thymoquinone, this investigation evaluated the effect of thymoquinone in the presence of selective A2A and A2B adenosine receptor antagonists (ZM241385 and MRS1706, respectively). Materials and Methods: Seventy guinea pigs were randomly divided to 7 groups; control (C), sensitized with ovalbumin (S), sensitized groups pretr...
متن کاملP138: Are Depression and Anxiety Affected by Adenosine A2A Receptors?
Adenosine acts as neuromodulator in the brain, which its involvement in a wide range of brain processes and diseases has been studied, such as epilepsy, sleep, anxiety, panic disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia. Adenosine receptors have been detected: A1R, A2AR (A2AR), A2BR, and A3R. A1R and A2R inhibit cAMP production, while A2AR and A2BR stimulate cAMP product...
متن کاملThe role of adenosine A3 receptors in cytotoxicity of the breast cancer cell lines
The nucleoside adenosine is present within cells and body fluids of all living organisms and its production, both intra- and extracellularly, is tightly coupled to energy consumption resulting in increased level of extracellular adenosine. The physiological effects of adenosine are mediated through four pharmacologically and biochemically distinct adenosine receptors (AR), i.e. A1, A2A, A2B and...
